Maternal is an educational and planning platform designed to support individuals through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenthood. Maternal is not a healthcare provider and does not provide medical care, diagnosis, treatment, or medical advice.

- Access controls — Maternal uses authentication controls and server-side security protections designed to ensure users may access only their own information.
While we work to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We encourage users to maintain strong, unique passwords and protect the confidentiality of their account credentials.
9. Data Retention
Active Accounts We retain account information, user preferences, birth plan content, saved content, and related information while an account remains active.
Account Deletion If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within approximately thirty (30) days, except where retention is required by law or legitimate business obligations.
Legal and Financial Records Certain records may be retained longer where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or meet tax, accounting, or regulatory requirements. Billing and transaction records may be retained for up to seven (7) years where required by applicable law.
Backup Systems Deleted information may temporarily remain in secure backup systems for up to ninety (90) days before being permanently removed.
Anonymized Data We may retain anonymized or aggregated information that cannot reasonably identify an individual for analytics, research, product improvement, and reporting purposes.
10. Children’s Policy
Maternal is intended for individuals who are pregnant, postpartum, planning pregnancy, or supporting someone through these experiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
If we become aware that a child under the age of 13 has provided personal information to us, we will take prompt steps to delete that information from our systems. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information through our services, please contact us at hello@maternalapp.com.

Maternal is operated from the United States. Our services are currently intended for users located in the United States. If you access our services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using our services, you acknowledge this transfer.

Users may withdraw consent for optional processing activities, request deletion of their account, or request deletion of personal information by contacting hello@maternalapp.com. Verified deletion requests will be processed in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
